Bachelor's Degree students may select to write a Research Project as a form of meeting some course requirements.

Master's Degree students will be required to write a Thesis. In a degree program requiring practicum, this thesis requirement may be waived. Students enrolled in a Masters/Doctoral program may also qualify for a waiver of this requirement.

Doctoral Degree students will be required to write a Dissertation. Students enrolled in a Professional Doctoral Program/Academic Program may request a waiver of dissertation on their Professional program in lieu of practicum. If their professional doctoral program is a Terminating Degree they will be required to write a dissertation. Students, upon consultation with their Academic Advisor, will select a topic for research which will be directly related to the student's major in his or her program.

OBJECTIVES for writing the Research Project/Thesis/Dissertation are:

to demonstrate the student's ability to select and isolate a topic worthy of research,

to demonstrate the ability to plan, research, analyze and logically present the findings or results of the research, and

to demonstrate the student's ability to present the entire research project in thesis or dissertation form, the format in which professional or scholarly research is presented to the academic and professional community.
